FOR KEYBOARDS AND MACRO PADS
Keys and macros
linr shows the song your player is playing. The play, previous and next keys on your keyboard already control that player, and linr follows within seconds. This page lists the few keys linr listens to itself, and how to put them on a programmable keyboard or a macro pad.

THE KEYS LINR LISTENS TO
Play, previous and next already work
You do not need to set anything up for the keys that run your music.
- Play and pausePress the key. Your player starts or stops, and linr shows it.
- Previous and nextYour player changes song, and the new song appears on linr within seconds.
- Volume and muteThey go to your player. linr does not use them.
These keys are handled by your computer, which sends them to the player. Which player answers is your computer's choice. linr never takes them over.
The keys linr listens to
Only these. Every other key on your keyboard is left alone.
| KEY | WHAT IT DOES | WHERE |
| ←→ | Moves one card along the line under the song. linr holds its own scrolling for 20 seconds after you do. | On the board, with no window open |
| Esc | Closes the window on top. | In any window |
| 1234orABCD | Answers the quiz question. | While a question is open |
| ←→ | Turns the page by one day. | In the Journal |
| CtrlorCmd+Enter | Sends your post or reply. | In the Forum |
| EnterandEsc | Saves or cancels a title you are typing. | In To do and in the Journal |
While a text box has the cursor, linr leaves the arrows and the letters alone so that you can type. Tab and Enter work as on any web page.
Put those keys on your device
A full keyboard has the arrow keys and Esc already, so there is nothing to do. On a small keyboard or a macro pad, give one key the job of an arrow key or of Esc. In linr it then behaves like the real one. The steps below come from the makers' own pages.
NUPHY
NuPhy
For NuPhy keyboards that work with VIA.
- Connect the keyboard with its USB cable and set it to wired mode.
- Open usevia.app in a Chromium based browser. NuPhy asks you to download the JSON file for your model from NuPhy's site first. In Settings turn on Show Design Tab, drag the file into the Design tab, return to Configure and press Authorize Device.
- In Configure click a key on the keyboard shown on screen, then click the arrow key or Esc in the table.
- For a short sequence of keys, open Macros, click a slot (M0 to M15), record the keys and save. Then assign the slot to a key the same way.

LOGITECH
Logitech
Through Logi Options+ and its Smart Actions.
- In Logi Options+ open the Templates or Manage tab of Smart Actions and press Create, top right.
- A Smart Action needs at least one trigger and one action. Press Add trigger and choose the one for your device. Logitech lists Device, Console, Actions Ring and Shortcut.
- Press Add action, choose Keystroke and pick the arrow key or Esc that linr should receive.
- Actions run one after the other, in the order listed. Drag them to change the order.

KEYCHRON
Keychron
For Keychron keyboards that support QMK or ZMK, through Launcher.
- Connect the keyboard with its cable and open Launcher in the latest Chrome, Opera or Edge. The link is in Keychron's article.
- Press Connect and choose your keyboard.
- Open Keymap, click the key to program, then choose the arrow key or Esc from the Basic section.
- For a short sequence of keys, open Macro, pick a slot (M0, M1 and so on), press Record, enter the keys and press Submit. Then in Keymap click the key and choose the macro from the Macro section.

STREAM DECK
Stream Deck
Through the Stream Deck app and its System actions.
- Put a Hotkey action on a key. Enter the keys one at a time: for Alt and F4 you press Alt, release it, then press F4. For linr, press the arrow key or Esc.
- Put a Website action on a key and enter https://getlinr.com. It opens linr in your default browser or in a browser you choose.
- The Multimedia action has Previous Track, Play / Pause, Next Track, Stop, Mute, Increase Volume and Decrease Volume. They control your player, and linr follows.

Try it. Open the board, play a song, then press the new key. The line moves one card, and Esc closes whatever is open.
If you make keyboards or pads
You are welcome to point your owners to getlinr.com/keys. No integration is needed: the page works with any key that can send an arrow key or Esc. Brand names here only say what works with what. They do not mean that the makers know about linr, support it or endorse it.
