The story
Indie rock band from Sydney, Australia. The original lineup consisted of Tony Dupe on vocals/guitars, Liberty Kerr on guitars/vocals, Andy Belletty on drums, and Stu (surname unknown) on bass. Before the band properly released anything, Stu was replaced on bass by Darren Jones. The band's debut EP, Think or Swim, was released in 1991. It featured prolific Australian producer Tim Whitten, who ultimately produced every release by the band. Not long after, Jones departed from the band to focus on Big Heavy Stuff, and he was replaced by Kevin McLaer.
Glovebox signed with the semi-independent label Id, essentially a division of the major label PolyGram. The band released their second EP in 1994, Furitive. Original drummer Belletty was then replaced by Dave Aston. Glovebox's third major release (but first actual full-length album) arrived as The Cold Horse Sings in 1995. It was also their final release for Id/PolyGram. Glovebox's final release, Umbrella, appeared in 1997. The group disbanded by 1998.
