Sparkbird is the project of singer-songwriter Stephan Nance (they/them). Their songwriting blends speculative storytelling with a “slice-of-life aesthetic… reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens and Joni Mitchell” (Good Music Radar). Sparkbird's performance history spans three DIY tours of Japan and others in the UK and Europe. They have toured the US and Canada in support of Elio Mei, Shayfer James, Fish in a Birdcage, Cosmo Sheldrake, and Rabbitology.
From Last.fm, written by its listeners.
Beyond the records: books, other lives and interviews.
Tap the heart on the board while a song plays and it lands here. Listeners who keep their listening private are counted, never named.

Is a record missing?
Records by other artists with Sparkbird in the credits, from the song and record credits of MusicBrainz and Discogs. Their own bands are above.
Playlists with Sparkbird in them: Sonic Architects selections and Pause & Record tapes from linr listeners, Deezer’s editors and curators, radio shows on Mixcloud and ListenBrainz playlists. Every tile opens on linr first, with the original one link away.
Where the listeners of ListenBrainz, Last.fm and Deezer agree, with the circle of Sparkbird’s own bands. A source that names other people with the same name is left out.
When Sparkbird plays on your computer, linr shows the story of the song as it plays, on any screen: the record and its date, who plays on it, related artists, concerts ahead. Spotify, Apple Music, Plexamp, YouTube, any player. Free, no ads.
