The story

English post-punk group, formed in 1972 in Birmingham, England, UK.

Swell Maps as a specific band didn’t really exist until the end of 1977, but the individual members had been playing together since 1972. Nikki Sudden had initially started playing with David "Phones Sportsman" Barrington, before they were joined by Kevin "Epic Soundtracks" Godfrey (Nikki's brother) and Jowe Head. Members Richard "Biggles Books" and John "Golden" Cockrill were involved with the band as well.

After releasing two albums and four singles they disbanded in 1980. Two reunion show happened in 1997, in London and Berlin, after the tragic death of Epic Soundtracks. Sudden passed away in 2006.
